TECHIE HOUR

Welcome to the popular activity by the Cornell Engineering Alumni organization, and other Cornell alumni groups. Here is the most recent flier for this year's Techie Hour panel. (White paper).Techie Hour is a venue for leaders and professionals in technical fields to share ideas about the New Economy. The evening format is panelist presentations, followed by Q&A. The event is hosted at rotating offices throughout the Maryland (biotech corridor), the northern Virginia (tech corridor), and D.C. neighborhoods. Besides the publicity gained by being a corporate sponsor/host, a public Business Flier table is open to all. This event provides you with a first name basis to people leading regional tech industries. (Each event has people that come from nine area codes).

The event began with a NYC Breakfast of Titans, organized by Cornell engineers, mid-2000. Then, an engineering researcher wrote a white paper for an e-Commerce forum, November 2000. A business plan was distributed to over 30 global (Cornell) cities since the 1Strategy Team members are from overseas (two Indonesian electrical engineers and a Pakistani IT professional).2New team engineers are from Silver Spring, Venezuela, Lebanon, India and Nigeria. The business template links New Economy firms so that Internet traffic between a D.C. hub and international cities is promoted. (See Hit Report). Broadband communication with us now comes from London, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, Toronto, New Delhi, Rome, Manila, etc. Due to global visits to this site, VoIP Skype videoconferencing active. (Contact Skype/hkshimbo).

Each event attracts New Economy leaders coming from a six-state territory; the RSVP level is about 100 for each evening. About half of the attendees are CEO/president/ founders of firms. Our contact list is 700 globally and only 2% ever attended an alumni event prior to a Techie Hour panel.
